Jardim Botanical - Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

When we arrived to Rio, it was quite foggy and our guide told us we would not be able to see the Christ Statue on Corcovado, so she suggested we go to the Botanical Gardens to spend some time. On the way to Jardim Botanical, we past another park in the city center that looked like a forest/jungle and she asked us if we wanted to get down and spend some time there. Since we had just seen our fellow companions bites all over their legs from their rain forest tour the day prior, we all looked at each other and said "No Thank You".
These photos below are from our visit to Jardim Botanical, founded in 1808 by John VI of Portugal. We only saw a tiny part of the 140 hectare park. We paid only a couple dollars 5 BRL, seniors are free. There is also a cart that you can drive around the park, I don't know if there is a cost, we didn't know about the cart until we were exiting the park. The cart would have allowed us to see more of the park, we wished our guide had mentioned it.
