Christ the Redeemer- Jesus Christ- on Corcovado

Officially one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The 120 Ft tall statue is the second tallest in the world. Built out of concrete and soapstone and started in 1922, it took 9 years to build. People from all over the world come to see this statue, an icon in Rio. Our guide told us it protects the city. Up on the platform, we saw people being creative in all ways possible taking photos with the statue in view, hands outstretched, laying on the ground, etc. This is the best I could do. The view was great.
There is a chapel under the statue for Catholic baptisms and weddings.
We paid 38 BRL about $17 to take the little train up to Corcovado.
